Copilot CLI stores its state under %USERPROFILE%\.copilot\ (override: COPILOT_HOME). Its binary cache lives in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\copilot\pkg\ (override: COPILOT_CACHE_HOME) and is not collected. The root location and the
session-state, session-store.db, logs and config.json layout were confirmed on Windows Server 2025 with Copilot CLI 1.0.82.
Copilot Chat inside VS Code persists conversations through VS Code core chat storage (chatSessions per workspace,
emptyWindowChatSessions globally) and the extension keeps its own SQLite session store under globalStorage.
The workspaceStorage folder name is an MD5-style hash of the workspace path; the sibling workspace.json (collected by
VisualStudioCode.tkape) maps it back to the folder.
Deliberately not collected: .copilot\mcp-secrets\ and .copilot\mcp-oauth-config\ (tokens), installed-plugins\ and
extensions\ (plugin source trees), %LOCALAPPDATA%\copilot\pkg\ (binary cache).
